An apt name, Oh My Dog, because, oh my god these hotdogs are good. Based at the KERB Camden Market, they also set up shop at the Southbank summer food market under Charing Cross railway bridge next to the Bleecker Burger popup.
They offer three choices: the Oh My Dog, Deputy Dog and the Chilli-Steak Dog, alongside a number of rotating specials such as the Great Dane and Yum Dog. They also offer a Classic Dog and vegetarian versions.
As the name suggests, the Classic Dog is a traditional plain hot dog with sauces that you can add to it, but it’s the three specialties of Oh My Dog that you really have to go for. The centrepiece of each hot dog is a large firm juicy heritage breed frankfurter in a demi-brioche bun that they then build on. The Deputy Dog is 9 hour cooked pulled pork, melted cheddar, their signature sauce and barbecue sauce piled high on the frankfurter and its bun. The Oh My Dog is a frankfurter topped with slow roasted cherry tomato and vodka relish, melted cheddar, steamed onions and American yellow mustard. But my favourite and hottest of all is the Chilli-Steak Dog that surely gets its inspiration from the Philly Cheese Steak: a braised bourbon chilli-steak, melted cheddar, steamed onions, diced jalapeños, sour cream and American yellow mustard topped hot dog.
Whichever you get it will be a monster of a dog, that you’ll have trouble getting your mouth around, and bits will fall off here and there, making a great mucky experience as well as a tasty one.
