At times a good wine and cheese bar is what you need and Mayfair’s Comptoir (there’s a sister one in Marylebone and Cabotte in The City) fills that need and then some.
Comptoir offers a choice of some 2000 wines to choose from alongside a light clean menu with classic French and Italian offerings. Sharing plates of charcuterie and perfectly mature and runny cheese are hard to resist. For those wanting more of a meal there are salads and tarts, steak tartare, oysters, a lobster roll, croque monsieur, and even a sea bream ceviche. It is a menu that is perfect for pairing with wine or a G&T while sitting outside in the summer.
For those wanting to know more about the vast array of wines on offer, they run regular tasting events. And if needing something to start the day, they serve a breakfast menu from 8am and a Saturday brunch menu.
