I’ve been eating at various Bodean’s BBQ restaurants for years, and they have just introduced a deal between 12-5pm, for a whole rack of ribs, chips and coleslaw for £10. I was going to see my friends screening of her music documentary, Bunch of Kunst, at Rough Trade East, so decided to take advantage of the deal while en route and popped into the Bodean’s on City Road.
I got a seat right at the bar as I was there on my own and had a great view of the TV showing the FIFA World Cup (if that’s your thing). After a little discussion with the staff (they weren’t aware of the deal as it had literally started that day) I got my order in for ribs and I had a pint in front of me. I also ordered a pint of their own beer, Boss Hog Brew; not only is it a great beer, it’s only £3.50 a pint.
The restaurant was quite quiet with only a handful of others around the bar so it was quite nice and relaxed. I wasn’t sure how long I should have been waiting for my food but after 25 minutes one of the staff noticed I hadn’t got my food yet so went and fetched it. He also gave me a free beer to say sorry. Win!

Baby back ribs for prices from 2002? Yes you heard this right! We are rolling back our prices to celebrate providing London with great American BBQ. What's better than Bodean's BBQ baby back ribs? Bodean's BBQ baby back ribs for £6.50! Tag your friends and book a table to take advantage. Only until next Monday. Get in!
The food arrived piping hot, so at least it hadn’t been left to go cold. A whole rack of ribs, beautifully smoked with a light coating of barbeque sauce. My mouth started watering straight away; I defy anyone eating BBQ ribs not to start salivating at just the smell of them. It was delicious.
The meat was perfectly cooked; soft and just holding onto the bone, coming clean away with a light bite. The chips were hot, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The coleslaw was nice and fresh, cutting through the slightly fatty pork.
I’ve only ever had 1 disappointing visit to a Bodean’s restaurant and I’ve been visiting for probably 7-8 years now. If you’re in London and looking for somewhere unfussy to eat then you can’t go wrong with Bodean’s. If you don’t believe me, you ask all my friends I’ve introduced to it over the years! Alternatively if you want deep south BBQ try Big Easy.
